Effective Asset Management, leveraging Hardcat experience

When it comes to assets, property and evidence management, success is all in the preparation. The Hardcat approach to developing customer solutions together with our proven delivery methodology means that our customers are in the best position to successfully realise their asset management objectives. The key to achieving asset management accountability is good planning, where Hardcat is there to help you set up for that success right from the start.

A successful Enterprise Asset Management [EAM] program should incorporate the four key elements of an Asset Lifecycle:

1. Planning

2. Acquisition and Deployment

3. Operation and Maintenance

4. Disposal

Companies must first develop an overarching asset strategy that includes all four of these elements. Then they must execute that strategy effectively, ensuring the participation of all stakeholders, designing the right processes and procedures, training employees well and managing the change process, optimising the necessary data, and integrating asset maintenance tightly with the supply chain.

At Hardcat, we have the benefit of deploying our asset management solutions for over three decades and across a diverse portfolio of businesses in over 120 countries. Our market proven processes combined with our vast experience, offers you a structured approach.

The exact shape of an EAM strategy will vary from company to company, but it must at least address the following questions:

  • What are the overall business objectives for your assets, now and in the future?
  • Does your EAM strategy support your overall business strategy?
  • How centralised or decentralised should you be in managing your assets?
  • What is your timeline for getting to your target level of maturity in managing your assets?
  • Do all stakeholders agree with the strategy?
  • What will your operating model be for managing your assets?

A good starting point for designing an EAM strategy is to create a target “operating model,” which should address the way many key aspects of the EAM program, including technology, will work in concert to achieve the business objectives.

Our approach to an effective EAM solution follows a rigorous process with a phased approach and applies continuous learning to ensure that the resulting business outcome is highly aligned with the client’s needs and delivered using efficient organisational change practices.

1. Discovery

The process begins with the Discovery phase where the specific customer circumstances are taken into account in preparing in initial, standalone instance of the Hardcat Lebosi solution (the Strawman) using the customer specific data to configure the system. This is used to provide rapid exposure to the software solution and early feedback from the users that progressively refines the solution prior to the ‘Proof of Technology’ [PoT] activity.

2. Proof of Technology

The Proof of Technology [PoT] represents a period whereby key stakeholders gain access to the system to exercise it in the context of their own business circumstances. This provides a ‘hands-on’ user experience that enables our customer the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of not just the Hardcat Lebosi software capabilities but also to consider how these features can be best applied to address the organisation’s unique needs.

3. Review / Discovery

The PoT experience is reflected upon, and the associated learnings captured as an input to planning the next phase – Pilot. Those learnings from the PoT are applied to the ‘discovery’ of the Pilot phase where the scope of the solution can evolve to address a more comprehensive set of customer needs as well as address the efficiency gains that result from having the Hardcat Lebosi solution more tightly integrated with the customer’s existing IT ecosystem.

4. Pilot Deployment

The Pilot deployment project realises the ambition of the more integrated scope and refines the solution implementation as it is deployed to a target group(s). This targeted deployment provides the opportunity to further refine the solution with specific attention towards the preparation of the organisational change management. The experience from the Pilot will facilitate an optimisation of the wider deployment across the entire organisation as part of the next phase, Roll-out.

5. Review / Discovery

Again, the Pilot experience is reflected upon to ensure the learnings and optimisations are applied towards the Roll-out phase.

6. Roll-Out

This represents the organisation-wide deployment of the Hardcat Lebosi solution which has been configured to best address the needs of the customer’s organisation. The roll-out becomes part of the business-as-usual activities and provides the platform for regular review and on-going improvement identification that ensures that the Hardcat Lebosi solution continues to evolve to address the ever-changing needs of the business.

Hardcat Lebosi Enterprise Assets Diagnostics

Hardcat Lebosi is designed to provide easy access to asset information via User Dashboards as well as Search and Reporting capabilities. Search and Reports are available on demand or automatically upon the occurrence of given events, with a consolidated view of all assets, property and evidence under the control of the enterprise.

The reporting engine allows for the creation of tabular style reports to meet your reporting needs. An inbuilt suite of fixed reports and full capability to introduce customised reports to address any unique business needs. These reports can also be scheduled to run automatically.

  • Reports and import/export templates (CSV/Excel) are associated to a role.
  • User-selectable dashboard views and predefined reports can be designed around roles to provide meaningful information in a dashboard.
  • Instant critical information views (customisable).
  • Quick action keys.
  • The data held within the solution can be leveraged by third-party reporting tools such as power BI to provide further insights and deep dives into the data, for trends and analysis.
  • Full traceability for all asset/maintenance/inventory transactions that will provide a deep level of auditable information.
