Hardcat offers Intrinsically Safe asset tracking solution for hazardous environments

Saturday, 30 October 2010 00:00

In response to demand from its customers in the mining and chemical industries, Hardcat has ported its highly regarded portable asset tracking and asset auditing solution to the Intermec CK32 I-Safe portable computer, which meets stringent certifications (UL, ATEX, IECEx) for safe operation areas with flammable gases, vapours and liquids where conventional electronic devices are banned. The CK32IS device is now supported by the powerful Hardcat CatScan mobile asset management software application, which allows a wide range of asset activities to be recorded "in the field", from receipting assets being delivered from a purchase order, to regular calibrations, safety inspections, audits, scheduled and reactive maintenance works, through to recording transfers and flagging items for disposal. Now that these transactions can be recorded on the CK32IS device, asset management operations in hazardous environments can be significantly streamlined for greater accuracy and efficiency of recording and reporting. We've been investigating the new Apple iPad as an extra candidate for our "Supported Platforms" list for our forthcoming release of Hardcat, but at least one of our customers has beaten us to it!

The customer, a major multinational in the defence and aerospace industries, has rolled out the current HardcatWeb application onto a fleet of iPads for asset and maintenance management in the field. The combination of the iPad's portability and ease of touch-screen control together with HardcatWeb's intuitive user interface, has allowed maintenance staff to enjoy a vastly more productive solution for recording job activities and asset inspections.

Expanded Revaluation capability in Hardcat

Thursday, 01 July 2010 00:00

Hardcat is welcoming in the new Financial Year in Australia with new functionality that will benefit our customers worldwide. Our Asset Revaluation functionality has been substantially expanded to better support organisations in compliance with accounting standard IAS 16 and the local interpretations of it (such as AASB 116 in Australia). Hardcat now offers a greatly upgraded interface for asset depreciation, allowing users to record both Gross (Proportional Restatement) and Net (Elimination method) revaluations.

The new release sees a host of new reports, including reporting on backdated Additions and Disposals that will make it much easier for organisations to manage these types of transactions.
