Cleveland Public Library 'books' Hardcat Business Services

7th November 2002: Cleveland Public Library in Ohio has joined the growing ranks of Hardcat clients in the USA. Knowing how to accurately record and quickly locate individual items in a collection of many thousands is a discipline that a library has unique experience in. As such, we were pleased but not surprised when the Library determined that Hardcat's barcode asset management technology was the best option for their fixed asset management.

Clevaland Library purchased Hardcat software and engaged Hardcat Business Services to conduct a full physical audit of all asset items. Project Manager Ms Nada Brusic reports the project was completed on time and under budget! Cleveland Library has also implemented the integrated Help Desk module of the Hardcat asset management system, which allows a web portal to enable the Library's thousands of clients an easy-to-use user interface tailored exactly to the Library's specific needs.

Hardcat releases v3.23 & new Stock Control Module!

1st November, 2002: Hardcat Managing Director Mr Dan Drum today launched Hardcat 3.23 in London, United Kingdom. The launch of the new release included the release of the latest development from Hardcat, a new Stock Control Module which is now be available in addition to the existing suite of six Hardcat software modules.

"Hardcat has always had a built-in capability for handling and accounting for spare parts and stock," said Mr Drum. "However, by containing this functionality within a separate module we have given our users even more flexibility and control, particularly with regard to auditing and reporting for stock items."

As is only to be expected of Hardcat software, the new module will seamlessly integrate with the other existing modules. Stock can be purchased using our existing Purchasing Module, and consumed as part of a repair task in our Help Desk Module or as a scheduled work order in our Maintenance Module. A new Stock Audit function has been incorporated into the "CatScan" software residing on handheld barcode scanners, allowing users to conduct spot audits of available supplies at individual locations.

Comprehensive reporting, automatic prompting for re-order of stock in short supply and user definable import/export capabilites will also feature in this new module, and our ODBC compliant database technology allows other external applications to be easily integrated.

Hardcat builds relationship with IBM

5th July 2002: Hardcat, already a registered IBM Business Partner offering a DB/2 version of its software, was a featured exhibitor at IBM's Software Universe event held this week in Sydney, Australia.

Hardcat's John Hawthorne reported that there was considerable interest from delegates in the products displayed at the Hardcat stand. "The software demonstrations we provided on the datashow attracted quite an audience! Hardcat's delegates were reminded of the impressive reputation of their asset management solution. "One IT professional we spoke to noted that our product seemed to be everywhere," said Mr Hawthorne. Malaysia's Bumiputra Commerce Bank banks on Hardcat!

31st March, 2002: Hardcat's Project Manager Dianna Hill has just wrapped up the implementation of Hardcat at Bumiputra Commerce Bank. Dianna worked with the team at local Hardcat reseller Tripro Technology Sdn Bhd to carry out a complete physical audit and barcode the Bank's tens of thousands of asset items, and then performed a financial reconciliation to ensure a smooth transition from the Bank's previous asset register solution.

Bumiputra Commerce Bank has taken advantage of the facilities available in Hardcat to allow a very detailed breakdown of complex asset items such as IT equipment, allowing them to track individual components such as monitors and peripherals that may move around during the life of the asset. The use of our portable barcode scannners allows spot audits to be conducted at any time in a given location, allowing the asset register to be easily kept up to date.

Managing Director Dan Drum said that the global economic turndown of 2001 had not adversely affected Hardcat sales. "In tough economic times, cost control becomes even more important. Effective management of asset items and their associated costs of ownership is one of the best cost-control measures any organisation can adopt."

Mr Drum stressed that the investment in Hardcat is very quickly recouped and returned with a variety of ongoing benefits, such as better equipment allocation, faster turnaround on breakdowns, tighter warranty and service agreement tracking, and more.
